APA Open Community

Hello there!  I am relatively new to the industry and only recently joined the APA and am learning a lot from this forum.  So I'm lucky to have a fairly big client who has regular events where they buy varying numbers of different styles and sizes of trophies.  Some events have a low budget some a higher one.  So I've almost exhausted Marco,  JDS and PDU Cat is next but was wondering if someone knows of some other Suppliers with some variety and unique offerings?

Thanks for your response James,   so who do you consider the "Top 3 Suppliers"  in the industry?   Are they Marco, JDS and PDU Cat?  As mentioned I'm looking for others with Automotive type awards and tropies.

The 3 major players in the component business will carry 90%-95% of all the motorsport awards available. The problem is that you are automatically selling products that everyone else can bid on. We have found that being the lowest bidder is not always the most accdeptable way to gain new business.

We have looked for items that we can customize, with sublimated or lasered graphics, that say"motorsports," but do not look like the same awards that everyone else is going to quote. A typical MDF Billboard trophy is a good example. Many sizes and colors are available. When you add your graphics and lettering you can design some dynamite looking awards.

We are also using one of our larger lasers to cut out acrylic shapes.... then adding graphics by using vinyl or UV Printing.

Your business sounds like you are into apparel. Now you can match the graphics on your shirts and uniforms to the graphics on the awards. This has worked out to be a great combination for us!

We have a pretty large racing client base as well. We have found that using sublimation is a great way to customize the award for each specific race/ category.  Often using the same award type (a cup or plaque, etc.....) and then throwing all kinds of area (or classification) specific photos or art on the piece. Gives us the ability to turn around and switch up things based on racers attendance.

Access to unique awards is only limited by your creative design capabilities.  There are companies out there that can bring your vision to reality, even at a price that leaves you plenty of room for a decent margin.  Apogee Commemorative was already mentioned.  There are also companies like RB Fabrication, Stillwater Awards, GlassPlax, among others.  You can also use a variety of fabricators who specialize in custom manufacturing of different substrates.  You create the design, they manufacture the various components, you assemble and personalize.
