Hello all,
Is anyone else having quality issues with the finish on black coated steel plaque plates? Mostly with "pock" marks and dust particles in the black finish that are too noticeable to send out to customers. I have purchased the Victory black florentine plates in all sizes from the "big 3", and I have to say at least 2 or 3 out of a pack of six have issues. Am I being too picky if I see a swirly dust particle in the finish, located near a corner hole or in the unengraved portion of the plate? Sometimes you can drop a letter or logo over the imperfection, but when it is out by the edge there is no hiding it. It is bad enough that we get assembled plaques that come without protective film over the plates, where the imperfection is clearly visible, and they are sent out anyway. Another supplier sent us what appeared to be silkscreened plates that when I peeled back the protective coating, half of the black came off with the film. Sometimes it ends up coming down to using the best of the terrible, and that should not be. I then have to call in for replacements, package up returns, wait for credit etc. I had been putting the bad ones aside, hoping I would get a layout that would cover a particular imperfection, but after amassing a pile of 15 or so plates, this strategy is no longer working. Any thoughts or ideas?
