Thank you, David .. appreciate your advice. As my customer was presenting this award today, I ended up doing just that ... giving him the option to bring it back to have the back side engraved. Interestingly my customer then decided to then ask the recipient, who decided he liked it just as it was (one side engraved).
A good lesson learned, and I will take your advice and move it to the design process next time!

I always recommend against it, explaining the potential outcome, but let the customer make the decision to etch both sides or reduce the engraving copy. Ironically, the last time I had this issue was on a base identical to the one in your picture.

Hi All, hoping to get some thoughts from experience....
When engraving a base that is see through (crystal, glass, or acrylic primarily) do you tend to only engrave one side? I have enough information where I really need to use the "real estate" on both sides, but my wife pointed out that this could be really distracting being able to see the reverse text "through" the front text.
Also realizing after 10 years that I don't engraving on both sides of crystal bases very often, as I have never had this run through my head before :)
