Having gone through a few logo change/update processes in my life, I have no doubt they had/have very good reasons for the change BUT I remain a big fan of the word "trophy". :)

I hypothesize that they got rid of the word TROPHY so that they could expand the Heisman brand in coming years. Eventually, you may see text such as "FOUNDATION" or other divisions associated with the brand under the Heisman name.
