APA Open Community

In my absolute excitement, a customer gave me vector art as a PDF. I brought it into Corel and sent it to the laser to engrave. The word "POLICE" is completely gone when the job was going, as if it didn't exist. My preview showed the word, so of course I didn't question it. I made sure nothing was in a layer that could be "hiding" the word. I ended up having to retrace the image to get it to engrave.......Any idea why this might have happened? In all my years, this is a first. I guess it goes to show you, even a vector PDF isn't always perfect (LOL).  AND you guessed it - this is the customers item!!!

I have seen it before where some of the lettering seems to be a raster that behaves like a vector. Almost as if the individual letters have been "powerclipped" inside their respective outlines. But the outlines don't engrave. What causes it on import? I don't know.
