We just ordered a 7" kick ball from Amazon (smaller than what adults use and for younger kids) and we used a high gloss metallic spray paint (rustoleum as I could get to pick up an acrylic based metallic spray) and it came out beautiful. We placed it on 8 1/2" loving cup. We cut out a acrylic disc to fit inside the cup with about an inch to spare - siliconed the edges and put a bead for the acrylic disc to stay put inside of cup and then a nice glob of silicone for ball to sit in to avoid any ozzing of silicone and it looks great.
Ignore my "high end" painting booth lol
Told my customer the caveats - This is a no guarantee service - he is responsible for keep the ball inflated over time otherwise it will deflate and probably ruin the paint job.
Otherwise he will have to buy another ball from me in the future lol
