APA Open Community

Hello Everyone,  have any of you come up with a "hack" or way to buy at wholesale or near wholesale BLANK Yeti or Hydroflask Drinkware so we can do the Branding ourselves.  These particular brands (and others) control their blanks and either only let certain approved decorators brand OR insist on branding themselves and are very slow and limited.

Any suggestions or sources  (other than Amazon LOL) would be greatly appreciated!

Hi William

I have found that developing a good relationship with a local Yeti/Stanley dealer works quite well.  I suggest to my customers that they can pick up their cups from them and bring them to us for engraving.  Now, even when the Stanley dealer has large orders which need laser engraving, they recommend us.  It's a great win - win.  And I don't have to keep the inventory.

I think part of the problem too is that even at Wholesale, Yeti doesn't offer that much of a discount to their retailers.  It's not like you are going to get them at 50% of retail or anything.

Our store found the same problem with Yeti, but Hydro Flask lets us order blanks (which we engrave) and I have had a few other stores that ordered their Hydros blank and then had us engrave them for them.  I spoke with our buyer and she said Hydro Flask doesn't have a minimum that she knows of, but she has to order in increments of like 4, 8 or something like that.

Hope this helps.  I like what Doug said as well.  We have stores in town that carry Yeti and they let customers know that we or one other engraver in town can engrave them.  And I REALLY like the idea of talking to a Stanley rep and letting them know we can do theirs!

I doubt you'll get a true wholesale price but you can find discounts.  We have a customer who buys at Ace Hardware in bulk and gets a discount on Yeti's.  For Hydro Flasks we get a similar discount by buying bulk from Dick's Sporting Goods, REI Corporate, and Scheels Sporting Goods.  We've found that if a customer insists on Hydro Flask or YETI they are more than willing to pay the premium for the brand.  For customers that don't want to pay the premium we direct them to Polar Camel and RTIC.  Stanley has become popular but I'd say less than 5% of our customers are requesting Stanley at this time.

Thanks Mike, and all for the input.   I have actually contacted one of the local ACE hardware's about bulk orders but the Owner said that Ace was going to drop them.  Thank was 2 years ago and Yeti is still there.    I'm going to give that route another shot.
